{"id":4679,"date":"2016-02-17T14:46:32","date_gmt":"2016-02-17T19:46:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/40.87.96.138\/beerbar\/?p=4679"},"modified":"2016-02-17T14:46:32","modified_gmt":"2016-02-17T19:46:32","slug":"02-17-16-hissho-shows-heart-for-valentines-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging.hisshosushibeer.bar\/my\/2016\/02\/17\/02-17-16-hissho-shows-heart-for-valentines-day\/","title":{"rendered":"02.17.16 &#124; Hissho Shows Heart for Valentine&#039;s Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/staging.hisshosushibeer.bar\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2016\/02\/11.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-4680\" src=\"http:\/\/staging.hisshosushibeer.bar\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/10\/2016\/02\/11-1024x769.jpg\" alt=\"1\" width=\"669\" height=\"502\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nHissho reached out to recent refugees from Myanmar (Burma) by providing them with Hissho Rice, and hygiene items purchased from the Core Values budget.\u00a0 When refugees immigrate to America, they are often left to fend for themselves after only a few short weeks.\u00a0 Imagine if you didn\u2019t know the language, didn\u2019t have transportation, and were \u201cthrown\u201d into a totally new environment, where all you had was a few others in the same boat.<br \/>\nLost in a sea of loneliness, 23 senior refugees came together to join forces to show a unified front.\u00a0 This meeting was in the home of another settled immigrant from Myanmar, who graciously offered his home for this meeting.\u00a0 Young people in the community also came to help out by doing the translating, serving the delicious homemade chicken and rice soup prepared just for this occasion, and even showing the elderly how to use nail clippers.\u00a0 If you\u2019d never seen a nail clipper, would you know what it was, or how to use it?<br \/>\nWith essentials that we often take for granted: toilet paper, towels and wash cloths, bars of soap, small zip-lock bags filled with hotel amenities collected over time by a Hissho co-worker, and, of course, the nail clippers were all eagerly and gratefully received by each person who sat and waited so patiently for their name to be called.\u00a0 The 50 pound bags of rice looked bigger than many of the ones who came to \u201ccollect.\u201d\u00a0 Strong young men carried it to the cars of those who volunteered to transport our guests.<br \/>\nAfter the distributions were made, we all sat together to enjoy the thick, fragrant, healthy, chicken and rice soup.\u00a0 I can honestly say it\u2019s the absolute best chicken and rice soup I\u2019ve ever had.\u00a0 It was probably the fact that the 6 chickens used were purchased by two Burmese Hissho co-workers from a Burmese farmer, and donated to the cause.
