2012 Crowns of Enterprise Minority Business Award

The 2012 Crowns of Enterprise Awards, hosted by the City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, honored the successes and achievements of small, minority and women owned firms. The nominees were honored at a sensational networking reception on Thursday, May 24th at the Palmer Building. A total of forty-three Small Business Enterprise (SBE), Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) and Women Business Enterprise (WBE) firms were nominated for an award.
Hissho Sushi was the night’s winner of the Minority Business Enterprise of the Year Award, which was handed out by Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx. Click here to read the full article on the Charlotte Mecklenburg County website.

Hissho Sushi Partners with Lund Food Holdings to Help Support the JDRF at the Hope Gala in Uptown Charlotte

Hissho Sushi had the distinct pleasure of participating as a “Wish Sponsor” for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Hope Gala on November 5th, 2011.  JDRF is an organization dedicated to improving the lives of every person with Type 1 Diabetes by accelerating progress on the most promising opportunities for preventing, treating and curing the disease.  Our partners and Lund Food Holdings and Lund’s & Byerly’s had a major role in putting this event together and we were extremely honored to be able to take part in an effort that raised over $600,000 towards these efforts.

Founder and CEO, Philip Maung, Attends Presidential Address as a Guest of White House

Philip Maung, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Hissho Sushi, was recently recognized by the White House for his visionary leadership in tough economic times and had the honor attending the President’s address to a joint session Congress as a guest of First Lady, Michelle Obama, on September 8th, 2011.
“It is a tremendous honor to be recognized for our accomplishments.” Maung said “The fact that we have been able to succeed and grow in a difficult economic environment is a testament to our corporate culture and the dedication of our employees and chefs. In addition, we would not exist today were it not for our retail markets and their loyal partnership and, of course, the many thousands of people who enjoy eating Hissho Sushi every day.”
