I’m clearing out the shelf.
Two of my main food groups are Hot Cheetos and sushi, and while I originally thought the two couldn’t go together, Frito-Lay and Hissho Sushi have teamed up to prove otherwise. Together, the two brands have put together a sushi roll that has an added spicy crunch from Hot Cheetos. The best part? You can find it at quite a few grocery stores to try it out.
This unique sushi roll—aptly called the Cheetos Flamin’ Hot Roll—is made with “Spicy Krab,” avocado, cream cheese, cucumber, crushed Cheetos, and a drizzle of hot mayo. The mix of cream cheese, cucumber, and avocado are meant to help cool down the spice from the Cheetos.
Although this might seem like one of those super exclusive food collabs that’s only available in a few places, the Hissho Sushi brand is actually carried at a lot of mainstream supermarkets across 33 states and Washington D.C. You can find it at Target, Stop & Shop, Meijer, Kroger, Giant Food, and Safeway, and a full list of retailers can be found on this Hissho Sushi website.
If you’re not quite sold on this combo, just think of this Hot Cheetos addition as something that adds both crunch and spice to a classic spicy crab roll. You may already use wasabi or order sushi rolls with tempura inside to achieve either of these flavors and textures, so Hot Cheetos are actually a pretty logical way to go here! Of course, you’ll never know until you try it, so be sure to check your closest grocery store—and don’t forget the soy sauce on the side.
